John is a Principal at AVAIO, where he focuses on digital infrastructure and energy transition investments. John has nearly 20 years of experience in energy and infrastructure finance as an investor, advisor, analyst, field scientist, and consultant. He has sourced and analyzed opportunities across the energy value chain and has both technical and commercial experience in international energy development, including oil & gas, renewables, midstream, transport, and storage.
Prior to joining AVAIO, he was a Principal at middle-market private equity fund Prostar Capital, responsible for sourcing and analyzing energy investment opportunities. Prior to Prostar, John led energy research efforts for Mizuho Securities and was a Managing Director at Global Hunter Securities, an energy-focused boutique investment bank. At IHS Herold, an energy-specific M&A advisory and valuation firm, John led the international energy asset analysis group and directed Herold’s research on alternative fuels and geothermal energy.
At AVAIO, John leads AVAIO Digital Partner’s sourcing initiatives across North America and Europe, matching emerging customer demands with market opportunities, as well as ADP’s commercialization efforts.
Education: John holds a B.A. in International Relations from Lehigh University, a M.Sc. in Geological and Marine Sciences from the University of Maine and Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Trinity College Dublin. He is a member of the Infrastructure Masons Sustainability Committee.
